Challenge

Building a Care Command Centre enabled by data insights

Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) have a long term vision to implement a Care Command Centre that will provide insight and information, enabling hospital administrators to better manage patient safety, experience and quality of care. Limitations in the hospital’s ability to access complete, accurate and timely information and in the capability of available tools to analyse that information were hampering the development of this vision.

Approach

Bringing together clinical and operational data across a range of areas

Client Solutions has significant experience in developing analytic data platforms for similarly sized organisations and partnered with TUH to develop the ‘Hospital Analytics’ solution. This brings together clinical and operational data across a range of areas – including Emergency Care, Scheduled Care, Waiting Lists, Bed Management, and Theatre Utilisation – in a simple-to-use application built on a proven data model accessible on PC, laptop, tablet and mobile.

Results

Empowering the team at TUH to make informed critical decisions

TUH’s executive team have been empowered to determine the status of their patients, the effectiveness of their programs and the efficiency of their processes. They can analyse complex disparate data via comprehensive dashboards and drill down to review the specific details needed to identify issues and opportunities and make critical decisions quickly. Isolated ‘data silos’ have been integrated and data quality issues resolved, with TUH maintaining full ownership and governance of their data. Hospital Analytics provides a future proof data platform for the hospital and TUH have now started the journey to developing a state-of-the-art Care Command Centre.

“It will enable staff across different disciplines to quickly access and analyse their own metrics. This will give them greater autonomy in looking at the trends in demand for their service and assist with planning future service developments to better cope with increased patient activity.”
